I was an A&P before I went airline. Many people told me I should have just stuck to flying and I would have been better off. This may be true but as I am now furloughed from a regional I am glad I got my A&P as I am working full time doing maintenance. Yes I would rather be flying, but I don’t have that option for awhile. At least I can pay the bills and afford kibbles for my dog. Trade school is a great choice and a great back up. Even better would be a degree that includes certificates in a trade. A few aviation universities provide a path to a 4 year, an A&P, and flight training.
You dug yourself a deeper hole by getting an A&P. You would not be furloughed if you were just a pilot. An A&P is okay to have if it was free. Only fools spend time and money getting an A&P, dont be one.
