I removed one once. First and only guy. 97 number during their probation. About to push back when I asked him to put it away and let's get to work. That was awkward enough. He would blow me off like I am a fly on the wall. So he started doing it over his beer cooler vent. I didn't notice until I asked him which way they told us to go. He hadn't a clue. I then saw him giggling and sure enough, he was texting while I was taxiing. I asked, "Is everyone at home okay?"
"Huh?" was his reply.
"Any emergencies or problems you need to handle?"
"Oh no, my girlfriend is just telling me..."
"Ground this is EDVxxxx we are going to need a gate return."

Never saw him again, don't regret a darn thing. We are adults and as professional as we choose to be.
