I'm on the way out the door....3 more months..maybe. After 30 years of flying for a living I can say i have never had anyone removed from my flight deck.
One stop and chat a few years ago is about as about it.
If anyone states they have removed 3 in a 12 month period.....they are the ones with the problem.

I removed one once. First and only guy. 97 number during their probation. About to push back when I asked him to put it away and let's get to work. That was awkward enough. He would blow me off like I am a fly on the wall. So he started doing it over his beer cooler vent. I didn't notice until I asked him which way they told us to go. He hadn't a clue. I then saw him giggling and sure enough, he was texting while I was taxiing. I asked, "Is everyone at home okay?"
"Huh?" was his reply.
"Any emergencies or problems you need to handle?"
"Oh no, my girlfriend is just telling me..."
"Ground this is EDVxxxx we are going to need a gate return."
Never saw him again, don't regret a darn thing. We are adults and as professional as we choose to be.

Theres a groove where 95% of us slide into with a little deviation left or right. If youre on the phone that much youre pretty far outside the norm and youre gonna get slam dunked by reality. if youre lucky its time off without pay. Delta they fired the FOs, some still on probation. It was blatant abuse of the cell phone but it got rampant over here for a very short period of time.
