Thats the entire regional model. My point was not to say that if you spend your career at a regional you're lazy, and if thats how it was taken I'd like to correct that. My point is, if you want guaranteed progression for merely showing up then head over to Envoy and take the beating, low pay, and work rules for your 'guaranteed' spot. BTW, hows their flow time looking these days? Infinite? I'd much rather have the contract EDV has and earn it on my own then sit around for who knows how long and wait for my number to get called. I guess im old school and understand life isnt fair and im not owed anything by anyone for flying a clapped out RJ. Thats okay, someone is always going to have it better than me and someone is always going to have it worse. I'll work hard and see where the chips fall. But I've got enough money allocated towards my own progression. Dont need/want the union hearding me to Delta, which isnt where I want to end up anyway.
To be clear this is not about Delta mainline but the system that is stacked against regionals. If you know the system is unequal your point is it's ok because I am just a regional pilot and it's ok as long as the abuse happens only to me at the regional. Now the union and system that sets itself up for inequality and how much is acceptable just to have a job. I'm sure when ALPA began I don't think they dreamed up a system where one group enjoys greater benefits over another or unequal representation because one group hasn't been vetted. What ALPA has done a good job is convincing pilots its OK for some things to happen as long as it does not occur at mainline.
