There are thousands of voluntary underemployed who are collecting unemployment right now. Company says we need x people to take reduced hours due to covid or we will have to fire. Those that take the reduced hours due so on their own but are still eligible for underemployment unemployed. If the company needs them they have to come back. When the state asks the company for the record the question is “has x employees hours been reduced” and notice how the company says they won’t dispute unemployment but they will verify employment.
Not telling anyone to what to do, but if one takes the leave, and applies I would bet it would get approved.
