That was in original 1998 Fedex Pilots Assoc CBA... ALPA would of never put that in a contract, if not already there. When that was implemented we had some guys getting 59 hours of pay and others getting a more regular Bid line gurantee around 72. Guys that were senior could bid carryover and protect themselves.

A whole lot of that got fixed after we won the grievance (half won). 4.a.2.c is a lot better than 4.a.2.b. was and put some checks and balances in place to keep from happening what happened in 2008. Let's hope we never have to test it.
I will say as someone who was furloughed from a major after 9/11, if there is going to be a concession to try and save jobs, reducing the guarantee is the way to go versus taking a cut in pay rates. The majors fought forever to get their pay back to even close to what it was pre-9/11.
