Working from the place of covering a health plan premium, wouldn't it be best to allow the pilot to find the best plan based on fit and go from there?
We have the health insurance exchanges now, as well as income-sensitive subsidies. For newly out of work pilots, these might (depending on situation) provide a useful tool, which would then lower the overall burden on the pilot group for whatever generosity they might offer.
