I've seen people express concerns on social media and other forums about people being less likely to listen to the scientists and experts on really important upcoming hurdles like global warming because of how wrong things have been handled by experts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

That's a funny way of looking at things. Instead I see this pandemic as a great illumination of how much disagreement and imperfection there is among scientists and experts and how blindly following some or all of them without any reasonable skepticism can lead to disastrous consequences. The time frame for this to all happen was short enough for it to unfold before our very eyes.

The drastic measures that some people propose we undertake to combat global warming should be seen with the same reasonable degree of skepticism. Voicing that skepticism, as you say, runs the risk of one being labeled a 'science denier'.
