Leadership is seeing the future and preparing for it. It isn't populist or easy. To some extent C44 is doing management's heavy lifting for them, since C44 is announcing bad news before management. It takes leadership to want the best for your pilots and take responsibility for trying to help them at your personal expense. Being right, but unpopular, sucks.
They were realistic and could be right but... While management is professing doing everything to save jobs is not the time to soften the blow, if they don’t follow through. 44 is again not representing the interests of their constituents IMHO. I hope this is laying the ground work for a rigid adherence to voluntary measures to reduce staffing but I have my doubts.
