Great point on the captains that already displaced to FO taking a significant cut already. However, your assumption that a furlough would still happen is just that, an assumption. SK has already said they would prefer the flexibility of having the staffing ready when demand returns. I’m guessing there’s a threshold where they would be comfortable paying more in benefits etc to retain the bounce back capabilities of full staffing if we agreed to lowering our hours worked and paid.
If Kirby wants to keep people around to be able to bounce back, he already has that ability in our contract. They can stay fat in various categories and offer as many SRL’s as they need until demand recovers. If he was really open to a temporary solution that wasn’t detrimental to the pilot group, our union would have let us know by now.
