Great point on the captains that already displaced to FO taking a significant cut already. However, your assumption that a furlough would still happen is just that, an assumption. SK has already said they would prefer the flexibility of having the staffing ready when demand returns. I’m guessing there’s a threshold where they would be comfortable paying more in benefits etc to retain the bounce back capabilities of full staffing if we agreed to lowering our hours worked and paid.
So what counts more, Kirby’s words “We want flexibility if things return” or his actions, a massive displacement.
The displacement, and people already being scheduled for training takes away that ability to bounce back.
I’m going to go with Kirby’s actions, and not his words.
