ATL is a tough commute out of any of those three. Tons of DL mainline commuters and the flights are generally full. CLT is hit or miss as is DCA. Winter is definitely easier than summer, but there are also fewer flights. I'm originally from that area and still travel there to see my parents a few times a year. It's definitely a great area.
