Yes everyone in industry knows that a senior-officer career is fraught with shoal waters and there's an element of luck to keep your nose clean. As long as there's no felonies or grossly inappropriate personal behavior, a guy like that will be fine. Kind of like he lost the superbowl with a fumble... but he was still in the NFL, and he won the playoffs.
