Wholeheartedly agree with your opinion on the general health of our country. A healthier population is more resistant to disease, cheaper, more productive, happier, etc. However, to change that is a huge undertaking and involves solving a broken healthcare industry, poorly allocated government agricultural subsidies, questionable food/agribusiness values, individual values in regards to food/diet, socioeconomic issues involving access to healthy, food, and many other moving pieces. Right here, right now though, I still think wearing a mask is more than a political or symbolic gesture, but an effective tool to curtail the spread of this highly contagious virus.

An effective tool for those with active symptoms, sure. However it is still not entirely known what good it does for the asymptomatic population...it could be helping tremendously or it could be nothing more than a bacteria trap on one's face. What IS known is the multiple positive benefits of living a healthy lifestyle. There is literally mountains of data on this but the mainstream sources and those attempting to mask shame others via social media have been absolutely silent on this topic. I realize that it is no small undertaking but there will never be a better time than right now while people think they are being ultra health conscious.
