To clear this up, if you played your cards right you don’t owe any money. The way the training contact was set up was that you would work there for 2 years to pay your “bonus” back. If you voluntarily left before that time, then you owed money. If you did not leave voluntarily, you owed nothing. This is why many people who had a hard time in training were offered the option to voluntarily resign, and pay money back, or get fired and not owe anything. Difficult choice for those at the time when you’re talking about 30k or that big black mark. Did you resign right before the shutdown? If you didn’t, you’re free.
