The company that used to fly out of there with RJs did not have nearly the amount of weight restrictions that the new company does, due to a more robust weight and balance program for the exact same aircraft.

Things like that should have been known by CAL beforehand. If they were not known, then CAL didn't do its homework. If they were known, then it is a silly way to operate jets on a route.
