They are having to hire pretty much all of the Q FO's off the street, because nobody wants to go through more training, just to be based in EWR for the same pay they're making where they are now. I think that right there is an "I'm not doing that" statement.
Captains have made the switch, because it is a raise, regardless of if it is up to "standard" or not. Someone offers you more money than you are making now, you take it (provided the commute or a move is reasonable for you).
As far as whose flying we are or are not "taking," I think that it's wasted breath to even argue about it. These are decisions made by the pencil pushers, and nothing we do is going to fix it. Roll with the punches, make smart decisions when they are presented to you, and get on with your life.
