Back in the old days, the AJT's, Kitty Hawk, Arrow, etc. would not be represented by ALPA for various reasons. These were small niche operators who weren't worth anyone's time. The IBT would represent them or other small groups in different industries. It was more of a philosophy with them, not a dollars issue. Not sure what is happening nowadays, but we needed to get all these little 36th street airlines under a CBA. The nonsense certainly stopped with union representation. I was shocked when the AJT pilots almost voted out any union in favor of taking a small raise in 2015. That was just a couple of years ago. Hopefully, there are more professional guys there now that can secure a new competitive contract.
Kallita Charters II voted to go non-union last year.
