That’s true. Dr Fauci, the person advising the PORUS was out there saying not to worry and then not to wear masks. The fact of the matter is that no one knew what was going to happen with this virus, even the WHO, who were saying that it’s not being transmitted between humans. Travel bans were put in place and the name calling began. This was the first shot fired and made this issue political. Everything done since then were decisions made in a battlefield set up by those trying to overthrow the POTUS. This wasn’t a PM of a small island nation making decisions free of the daggers being thrown at them with every word stated. And despite that, all the masks, gowns, gloves, ventilators, more and new testing methods were made by using the defense production act. And operation warp speed has four or five companies racing to come up with a vaccine and more importantly, therapeutics. Hospitals were built and manned, and two navy hospital ships deployed. Now, 8 months later, compare us to Europe, we are in the same boat, with another spike. So did they all mismanage the outbreak as well? Or is it more plausible that this is how pandemics work?
It’s sad that when you see the POTUS having good approval numbers at the beginning when he was doing the daily briefs and explaining all the government was going only to see one side looking to pounce with gotchas in order to prey to Trump’s frail ego knowing he would counterpunch. One side started the politicization and it’s unfortunate they took advantage of this simply to try to gain power.
Anyway, I think the premise of this thread is wrong. It’s not if Biden or Trump would be better for UAL or the industry as a whole. It’s whether Harris or Trump would be better.
