The state legislatures can select the electors instead of the voting public, South Carolina did it in 1836. They have the right to overturn the popular vote in their state. Whether or not they do it here, well that has yet to be seen. Trump will have to convince the GOP of PA,GA to do it, an uphill battle for sure. The Democrats are just spectators at this point.
Though few know this; during the 2016 General Election H Rotten Clinton had the most state elector defections in modern history. Even these guys knew a crap-sandwich from a mile away.
