They aren’t dumb. This isn’t their first rodeo. Almost every single one of their initial employees was a jetblue and/or virgin early employee. They know what seniority is worth. Why pay any more than RJ wages when people are lined up by the thousands. Works for furloughed or current RJ pilots. Golden handcuffs? Not quite. But how long until major airline hiring resumes? Crossover point for training churn costs to exceed standard wages that would prevent turnover? At what point will increased revenue allow for higher personnel costs? I’m sure they are monitoring all that and will adjust if/when necessary. I doubt that happens for at least 5 years though.
