Some restaurants do ask, but there’s no way for them to tell if you’re on a reduced fare ticket. They seem to only be interested that you spend the max amount allocated by the card. I’ve been rung up for $20 before and had the cashier tell me to grab some chips and bottled water to get it up to $28.
