It's kind of funny. Is there any other industry where one company completely buys out another and is FORCED to hire all the previous companies employees? I am not saying this is or isn't a good thing it's just interesting to think about. Don't companies acquire other companies at times just to take their business and shut the acquired company down? I would in no way want to see this happen to any Mesa pilots or any pilot for that matter I am just curious how it works.
They are not forced to hire all the pilots. If they wanted to buy Mesa and only keep the CRJ, for example, they would not need all of Mesa's pilots. The merged seniority lists, if they do merge them, would decide who is junior and get furloughed. Whats the difference to the company which pilots are furloughed? I mean really. To the company, a pilot is a pilot is a pilot. And in this hypothetical, the acquiring company would be a party in the decision of what is "fair and equitable" anyways.
