As I said, JB’s slots and gates going to AA, in some cases going BACK to AA since they were originally obtained as a condition for allowing AA to do other things that reduced competitiveness in those hubs. But one of the fallouts of the COVID pandemic is the inability of the legacies to meet gate and slot ‘use it or lose it’ criteria DESPITE cycling RJs through their hubs. The waiver on that requirement has been extended what? Three times now? That’s not going to be extended forever.
But yes, manipulating RJ flying has been a legacy technique to keep a monopoly on their hubs for quite awhile now. Whether that will survive the COVID induced decrease in flying remains to be seen. And the JetBlue pilots are clearly aware of that.
