I hate the uniforms. I am a female captain at a regional. The reson they are mens uniforms are becuase they want us to look like men. Men's hat, men's tie, even the blazer is mens. It isn't nicely pleated like the flight attendant uni. Also we are required to pull our hair up and wear minimal make up and no nail polish. I think it's ridiculous...like they are actually tricking the public into thinking we're guys or something.
I was trying to figure out why females sound like 15-year-old flirty girls on the radio most of the time. Every time I hear one I go "la-lala-lala-lala" in my best high-pitched impersonation voice! (Obviously I don't key the mike.) Now I get it – they are trying to COMPENSATE for the manly uniforms. Mystery solved!
