This verges on personal but no I don’t intentionally speed. I’ve accidentally done it but not intentionally. We all make mistakes. It’s the attitude I’m discussing. That rule is stupid so I don’t obey it. The phone really doesn’t interfere. Does it? Does it matter if it doesn’t? It’s the culture of “the rules don’t apply to me” that is dangerous. It’s why I am merciless deplaning a disruptive passenger. If they can’t follow simple sit in your own seat. Stow your bag. Etc how can I trust that in an emergency evacuation they will follow instructions without question?
Same with crew. We have procedures. Follow them. I hate the guys that ask me “are you standard” because they are not. I’m
as standard as I can be. Striving for perfection. Certainly not there yet. If you’re catch me being non standard call me on it. I’ll fix it.
It’s the ATTITUDE towards the rules.
