I won’t argue against the validity of following the rules. It’s frankly, usually, less work to do it right than to continuously fight/hide/confuse by doing things “your own way”.

That said, the idea that phones affect flight instruments is nonsense. It may have been true (I think it was) with much older phones, and much older avionics. Flight crews, FA’s, PAX, all leave their phones on transmit mode on a regular basis, and there are not 145’s falling out of the sky left and right.
