Is this BL's clever way of reducing the value of our CBA by getting the pilots to pay for their own hotels vs the company? I don't know anything about building a route/system structure. Will our structure and utilization be substantially different with this model?
There was an article posted somewhere that included the leasing cost of our facilities in USVI and I was shocked how cheap it was. Like less than 2,000 a month I believe. Are all of these bases exponentially cheaper to service than hotels for crews? If they're going to pay us "market rate" then let's have them pay to move or pay retail for their own hotels?

I wouldn't really call cutting back on RONs clever...if they can find a way to perform the same the amount of flying while reducing their hotel costs why not? Commuting is a choice and I say that as someone who has spent my entire time here commuting.
