I have a skill set that would allow me to make enough money on the side as to not take a substantial hit if I can count on getting 20 billable hours in a week. In your opinion is this possible?
As long as you are flexible that should not be a problem. A typical 3-4 day trip gives me at least one long 16+ layover. With 2-day trips I am home part of every day. I can almost always have time to grab a workout, check out a new place, and grab dinner and a drink and still get 8-9 hours of solid sleep on a single trip. Some nights though are 8 on the ground so its straight to the hotel for the pillow "faceplant" followed by the "wake up before the sun" routine. Of course your experience and company may vary!
