It depends on how often you need to seat 8, how big those 8 people are, and how much cargo space you need. Third row seats on all of the pilot/telluride size SUVs are just ok. 3 adults don’t really fit, and depending on the type of car seats 3 kids might not either. They also have very little space for cargo behind that third row. Minivans are better on the cargo, but have the same problem with the third row. If you really need space, your only options are the Tahoe/suburban/Escalade/Yukon or the expedition/navigator. The long wheelbase makes a big difference in comfort and space. They are huge cars and pricey, but don’t force you to compromise on comfort. For reference we have 4 kids and 2 dogs, getting rid of our 10 year old odyssey and deciding between Yukon XL and Navigator L.
