The retired planes might not be coming back, but the 717 has been at a disadvantage in the COVID spacing program we’ve been operating in, by virtue of the 2x3 seating. On the 320 fleet, I’ve been flying the 321 on a majority of my trips. So in my opinion, we’ve needed bigger planes in most markets to provide the needed seats. I’d imagine when the seating restrictions are dropped, the 717 will find its place again, but whether or not the DTW base gets more love or not, I don’t know.
Not sure you completely understand MIDDLE seat blocking. A 717 can seat 4 out of every 5 seats. Been on a RJ lately?
