On a somewhat different subject, reading about crime statistics, St. Louis in currently dealing with an astronomical crime rate including violent crimes, assaults etc. Does this concern anyone beyond the typical travel in groups, stay out of dark places and mind your own business, common sense? Clearly, the plan is to spend most of the time at the schoolhouse but one has to venture out at some point to get eat/shop. In my younger years I didn't give it much thought. Complete non-issue for the places you'll wind up hitting for food/shopping/sightseeing. In fact, there are some pretty nice spots to walk around near Washington Univ, etc. While you're down there make sure you hit up Pappy's on Olive for some of the best ribs you'll find anywhere.
