At NWA, Instructors got positive space, hotels and had a higher non-rev priority, to boot. The only thing I ever heard anyone ever say about it "Good. We want the best pilots across the system teaching, not just those that live in MSP". And this was at an airline that was 80%+ commuters.
Of course, all seniority list jobs were important, so any time the motion was on, a seniority list instructor was required. Oh, and you had to hold what you taught on, which is not the case here. If you lost your seat, you lost your IP gig.
