I’ve seen several questions about the hiring process at XO, (XOAV) I’ve spoken to the HR folks and this is the latest info as of 1 June. The good news is the folks in FXE are returning to the offices affective 1 June. That may allow for in person interviews to begin soon but for now, everything is being done via video teleconference.

1. Applications are screened and evaluated based upon experience of flying to include hours, Part 91/135/121. There is no formula that favors one type of flying over another unlike what some posters have stated on her. The minimums are all listed in the JobVite found here and below.

Minimum Requirements

• 1500 Hours Total Flying Time
• 500 Hours Pilot-In-Command (PIC) Total Time
• 500 Hours Multi-Engine (MEL) Total Time
• 150 Hours Instrument Total Time

We accept pilot applications on a rolling basis, and qualified candidates that will be placed into a pilot pool if no positions are available at the time.

2. Applicants are chosen and notified by email they have been selected and requesting a good time for an interview. Recommendation: Give yourself enough time to prepare, it doesn’t have to be the next day.

3. First interview, HR. Pretty straight forward, confirming your resume data, contact info along with TMAT questions regarding customer service type issues. Approximately 30 minutes for that and 30 minutes for explaining about the company, benefits, answering your questions. Loads of sites with those are so I won’t encroach. Applicants then notified by email they either will move along to them next interview or TBNT email.

4. Second interview, pilot interviewer via video. Small talk, get to know you, 45-1 hr. Technical questions (again found in many places), TMAT flying decision making scenarios, Why XO? Why you? Same drill as HR, email sent saying TBNT or letting you know you are progressing in the process.

5. Final interview with one of the senior Flight ops folks, conversational, trying to get to know you and confirm what he/she has been told by HR and pilot interviewer. Nothing secret or magical, be prepared for any of the previous type questions or simply being able to carry on a conversation with someone you just met on the phone that doesn’t become awkward for either party. Are you a good match to be in the cockpit for multiple days with others is the thought process.

Notified by email if TBNT or by phone or email you are being placed in the pool for future classes. Are you available for short notice hire? How much lead time do you need to come on board? Depending on aircraft acquisition, attrition, and your availability successful applicants will be contacted with a class date. There are no officially announced class dates at this point for XOJET. (Citation X, Challenger 300)

Reapply if still interested in 6 months from TBNT email. I will confirm this timeframe.

For Vista Jet (XOCR) applicants, the process is similar but XOCR conduct the 2nd interview, not XOAV pilots.

Don’t know how many apps are on filed but I’m sure quite a few. Interviews are currently being conducted for XOAV and XOCR. Those applicants chosen will go into a pool and I don’t know how many are in the pool.

Internal recommendations are helpful, but those applicants without recommendations from XO crews are selected also for interviewing. No other news to report. All of this came from the HR spokeperson who handles the first interview. Hope this clears up any confusion or those who may have read speculation on the process from those who have old info or are misinformed. Just trying to help.

BTW, Red Wing Aviation (it falls under XOAV but still is operating separately..no idea if/when both combined) is advertising for XLS PIC/SIC positions. I didn’t ask about how their process might be going but I would suspect very similar. Link to PIC position/application, link to SIC position/application.
