You get paid as a CA 100% of the time if you are a CA regardless of what seat you fly from on any trip. Stuff you said about training dept here is 100% false. Just had to bring a few actual facts into the discussion.
Whether you call it CQFO or FOQC makes no difference. If you are hired as a Captain you are automatically right seat qualified as a First Officer… end of story. If the company wants to use you as a First Officer they will… and that is based on Seniority. Someone wants to drink the cool aid and say it is anything other then what it is… go right ahead … selling your soul to the company will get you know where… The 50 seat pay rate is no rumor… it is a fact. When the 550 came on to property the rates were negotiated then, and at that time the company pushed the same argument… history is repeating itself.
In regards to training… all the mid level and five star carriers know all about G7 and the bs that goes on in STL… nothing has changed in years. It sounds to me like someone again is drinking the coolaid a little too much and thinks that by kissing the company’s a.. they are going to get something out of it… sad thing is… they will find out the hard way…
The company just yesterday posted a memo regarding premium pay for volunteer reserve. My advice to all is not to pick anything up and let the boat sink… by picking up regardless of pay you are continuing to allow the company to operate without regard to committing to negotiating better wages in negotiations… so essentially your screwing yourselves in the long run.
I agree that the old man is looking for an out. The company does not own any of the aircraft on property.
They are almost all leasebacks to SkyWest. The building in STL and the mx hangars are leased they are not owned. If the company has to start canceling flights because they don’t have crews then United will pull the flying and take it to SkyWest … 10 year contract is not worth the paper it is printed on… that is a fact… just look at express jet…
