I would love to see us secure a benefit where I can pay a certain percentage of premiums in retirement, for a specific amount of years. Would be fantastic to have that HRA money used in retirement
I like the HRA plan but I really like HSAs. I wish our HSA was as cheap (premium, deductible, and out of pocket max) as the HRA and get a similar company contribution from each.
HSA is another good place to stash money away tax free for retirement. Max HSA out every year (along with 401k and IRA) but pay medical expenses out of pocket. Invest the HSA money tax free and save it for retirement.
Although I do like your idea of company insurance in retirement.
