I "think" it has to be within a year for you to get the multi add on. That was the case for me to get my single engine. It will depend on what the local FSDO says about it. Your civ options are to go to ALLATPS and pay around $2500 to get your multi, comm, ATP in a piper or go to Higher Power, CPT, FTI and pony up between $5K-8K for your ATP plus 737 type rating. If you are eligble for the GI bill, then I would go the ATP+737 route, it will only cost you 40% of the above costs. The type rating will help when applying for majors jobs. Good luck to you...
