CN does not mean “company need”. That was made up several years ago and spread everywhere. It’s Coverage in the Nth layer, meaning you didn’t bid for it but you get it anyways.
In reality CN means a bunch of senior guys asked for some days off, the system awards them, then goes “oh $h…t” and decides it needs to award extra flying to the middle layer seniority people until it reaches a norm again where it can start to award less flying to more junior people. That’s why people refer to it as Company Need.
PN on the other hand means you screwed up so badly that you did not end up getting enough flying in layer 1-7 and now you are awarded scraps that are left over…
