If you’re a 190 guy you can’t trade to FLL because it isn’t a 190 base. If you didn’t get it out of training you’d have to hope for a supplemental bid or wait until next august bid for 2022 and hope to hold it then. If you’re a 190 guy you’d have to try to base trade down to MCO. If you’re a 320 guy and don’t get fll out of training, you’d have to try to base trade each month until a bid came out and you could hold it. Though I will say, at least in the past, there were a bunch of FLL 190 overnights, so you would trade commuting for better seniority and possibly overnighting at home a bunch. Also, if you are in south Florida and on the 190, there’s tons of premium for broken pairings down there since theres only a small MCO 190 base. Guys I know who live down there get called all the time for VDAs (200%) for uncovered stuff down there. So, even if you’re not based there, it can be lucrative as a 190 guy. As for holding either on a bid, you’re looking at 0-1.5 years, probably. Just some random thoughts relating to your situation. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you that was very helpful. I appreciate you taking the time to break it down for me especially the base trading part. Ideally MCO is the best option for me being I live out in the Lakeland area. I was surprised to even have gotten the email to start the selection process so it was just all food for thought for me. I've been commuting my whole time at the regionals and once you get a line its a whole new lifestyle. So knowing that some junior people just got MCO 190 FO is good to hear. If I had to commute to JFK or BOS obviously I would because being at a major in and of itself is a huge step up from a regional. So i was just curious what it would be like timeframe wise to get to MCO and be able to drive to work even if it meant being on reserve for years. Reserve in base and being home would be nice until I could hold lines. I just need to dig through some of the threads to see how long it would take to hold a line in BOS or JFK on either equipment now. .Since commuting for lines and reserve are completely different lifestyles. Even FLL since it doesn't seem like a terrible commute out of TPA especially if you could hold it as a new hire. How big of a base is 320 FO in MCO if you don't mind me asking?
Thank you again for responding. I really do appreciate it!
