FedEx and Atlas have entered into a long term agreement to provide 747’s to outsource FedEx pilot jobs. This is different than the temporary uplift that we’ve seen throughout the pandemic and each year during peak. The announcement says, “
This new agreement is in addition to the company’s existing multi-year peak season contract that provides FedEx with a minimum of five aircraft during the fourth quarter.”
This is a direct threat to our job security and should be viewed as a shot across the bow. It’s time to take a stand, come together as a Union, and say this is not acceptable. The Strategic Preparedness and Strike Committee has sent out a message saying, “
Company proposals have thus far fallen short of acknowledging the massive effort that you have put forth since our last CBA. With this in mind, the Strategic Preparedness & Strike Committee (SPSC) needs to round out our team with additional volunteers who are willing to dedicate some of their time and talent in our domiciles and major commuting cities and strategic locations.”
Additionally, the email said, “A strong SPSC team can give our Negotiating Committee the necessary support to achieve the contract that you and the 5100+ strong crew force deserves.”
While many of us have different opinions about the union MEC, Union reps, and negotiating committee, we should not be arguing amongst each other or negotiating in public. It is time to stand together as one, be involved with the SPSC, and just say no to outsourcing our jobs.
