Is the following an "illegal assignment" per the contract?

A6 window, tomorrow is a soft day off. Called to report for an evening DH to ferry a plane back to CVG. Scheduled to arrive at 1240am.

I understand if it's scheduled to end before midnight, and goes up to 2am due to irreg ops that it still is considered same day. However, this would be an contract violation if accepted as scheduled. Now, if at the time of being notified they flat out said they were jr manning me into the soft day, it would be ok. Correct?

I politely pointed this out without using the "jr man" words and she came back after checking and said yes and was taking it off my line. I know it sounds all good....but I just wanted reassurance. I know the duty limits go up to scheduled 13:30, but it would only be 12 if the next day is a day off and they weren't using jr man......???????

Sorry if that was all over the place....thoughts are just coming to me....

What do some guys do? I've pointed out 3 illegal trips since I've been here, even though I wanted to fly, because I know if we don't, it could lead to more. Do you point them out or take them?

You aren't really Junior Manned into a soft day (unless it is a locked soft day). The soft day can be moved (once) and then they could assign you the trip. However, you would have to be the only person available to do the trip in order for them to move the soft day and have you do the trip.

There was probably a more senior A6 who had an extra day of availability and thus they should have gotten the assignment anyway. Always question and point out assignments that don't look right or seem illegal. We have to look out for ourselves as the turnover rate in scheduling has been high.
