Back in the day, with the 727 and 737, the bulk of the check was accomplished in the sim with the bounces in the actual aircraft. Since then went directly to the jet from the sim with the temporary in hand. In other parts of the world, I’ve conducted in aircraft base training, in Euroland and Asia.
I got my temporary on one type at 0200, after we finished the bounces. Turned out the instructor and three students lived in the same town, so we just snagged the RON bird when it arrived at 2330.
