At Delta you can put all of your reserve days in a row. So you can have like 16-17 in a row of reserve, then 13-14 days off depending on the month. Scheduling just has to schedule you for 30hrs rest during every 7 of your on call days (can be at an outstation during a trip), so you essentially get a few extra days off per month with this method. You can even string your days together month to month so do like 30 in a row, then 28 off, but I've never seen anyone do this...seems brutal.
Edit: you have to be senior enough to hold the days off that you want to do this. But in a junior category it shouldn't take long (aside from holidays etc.)
Thank you. This is excellent news. I think if I'm in NYC, I'd be tempted to do all the days in a row. Anywhere else, I might shoot for 2 blocks with a week or so in between.
