Another area that could use tightening in language. I don't believe the pre-release schedule check was ever intended to acknowledge an entire month of pre-posted rest assignments. It's so the RES pilot is obligated to go directly INTO rest for a subsequent assignment (same/next/second day) without having the him hawing of going back into LC and then being assigned rest.
Add to survey: "Post release schedule check requires the pilot to acknowledge same/next/second day assignments ONLY (including Rest on only those days.)"
This would go a long way towards solving the pre-posted rest problem. This and just making pre-posted rest only being same/next/second day assignable overall, just like EVERY other type of RES assignment.
This is the loophole the company found (the ability to make RES assignments beyond 2 days out)

The only reason they’re doing this is to keep the entire pilot group from having any sort of flexibility. And as collateral damage, reserve has turned into something that constantly abrogates seniority and leaves you clueless as to whether you will get an assignment or not.

Saw from the latest C44 update that they're going to file a grievance over these pre-posted rest shenanigans, so I'm sure it's in their radar for Sec 6. However I'll make sure to write to my reps to add my voice to the many others being negatively affected by it.

Someone suggested awhile back in this thread that best practice for post rotation schedule check is to call the IVR. The initial prompt after you call tells you only the closest schedule changes (not everything for the month) and you can acknowledge just that close in rest or rotation there. All the others in the month remain unacknowledged.

I wish ALPA would unilaterally announce that they interpret that verbiage as a pilot only has to acknowledge something that reports within 24 hours of the release time. If the company disagrees they can file a grievance and it isn't a violation until the arbitrator says so. Funny how that works.
