The company wants and needs to grow. For that, they need to expand the pilot group quick and wide. Once legacy hiring booms after the holidays it’s going to be a bloodbath. The company will be forced to raise starting (no more training pay, benefits day 1, etc. The entire pilot group should benefit by the market forces being what they are….being truly favorable for pilots for once.

I agree with all of that.
The argument on the forums has arecently been "does the union need to negotiate for higher first year" OR "let the company raise it using their own "capital"; because of the very points you make above.
Last straw poll was about 90% in favor of letting the company fix their pay problem and 9% saying the MEC needs to raise first year pay in negotiations , and ExCargo is usually screaming from his soapbox.
Sure doesnt seem like the company can drag a contract out when advertising those FO pay rates
