In fact, don't know how long you've been at the company, but I'm almost sure that's how it worked upon implementation (but I could be wrong... again). Sorry it didn't work out for you. That's BS and you should really force the grievance. Make the Union grieve it. Easy for me to say though.
This is how its been since 2015 for New Hire Jr Pay. I know from experience. The SDP is different and I got a nice check from a grievance ALPA won in 2018. Over 150 pilots got a check for it and B plan contributions for the higher rate of pay.
