I mean if you go back up just one page there are like 4 other people also holding the non-Christmas weekends off. So every individual around them could have held weekends off if they had chosen to bid for them. Honestly I'll bet a good number of people don't even really know how to bid properly yet and just didn't put in for the weekends off. And yes, for commuters to NYC many times people will put their reserve days into 1-2 large chunks to minimize the number of times they have to commute up and back, even if that means having to work some weekends. Others due to kids/spouse's job/whatever prefer to work the weekends and have the middle of the weeks off.

In the end, on basically every NYC fleet, but especially the 220, if you want weekends off on reserve you can have that within 1-2 months of finishing training. The Jan awards should be out today and that will give a much cleaner picture of where things stand without a holiday to really jack things around.
