8 day reserve stretches give you more bang for the bid. 5.75 days on long call is all you can do for 30/168. that means day 6 and maybe a portion of day 7 is rest and with a 12 hour call following rest days 7 is useless and day 8 at noon you are done with hard X days following.
That strategy works great right up until they give you a trip with a 30-hour rest in it..
But generally with smart yellow-slipping strategy you should be able to avoid that if you want to. Plus, how many 30 hour layovers do we even have any more domestically? I see way more trips with 10-11-10 than anything with 30...
