Not dumb at all. You switch to a base you can hold a line then swap all your trips out of where you live/your preferred more senior base or you can drop all your trips and wait for stuff to pop up on the x list or opentime. Plenty of guys do it. I did it when I upgraded as reserve started to take its toll.
