OK,
I couldn't find the info anywhere (recent). Can someone shed some light on what to expect as a newbie at DAL.
Do we get a uniform allowance?
Nope, DAL does not give money for uniforms. You may be able to get a low interest loan from the DAL credit union.
What's the current schedule after your first two weeks of indoc?
All Classroom, with pictures the first day. You do get to jump in the pool on one day for survival/ ditching school.
No systems stuff in those two weeks. More FOM, and OPS Specs. You will get your A/C the first day. Pubs a few days after that, and then a training sked. It could be the next week after or indoc or a few weeks later. It depends on FTD and SIM availability.
What does A/C training consist of during the two weeks?
See above.
How many days on the road for domestic vs. intl, reserve vs. line holder?
Depends on how short scheduling is. This summer we will probably be short in all categories, so you will fly. You will vary from every reserve day is a fly day to about four days a month. It depends on what base and seat you sit in. This also changes from month to months. With all off the training going on, it is very had to give a best guess because of all of the movement. Either way it is less than you are probably doing now. What are turns like? - Is it like a SWA 25 min heyday, or can you mosey about the terminal drinking $3.50 lattes?
Depends. Some are 40-45 min turns with an a/c swap. Some are for three to four hrs. This varies every for every category. My experience was that the 88 had less sit times. 767 has more.
I got lots of "generic" answers for this stuff, but just looking for some more "realistic" expectations.
This may be a stupid set of questions, but hey, I'll ask them (there has to be AT LEAST 1 other newb thinking about this stuff!?)
Also, recommendations for Flight/Travel bags. Should I wait until I find out what plane I'm going to be on? (I'm assuming my backpack and Samsonite just won't "cut it!" anymore)
Flight kit needs to be black. A standard size works for all fleets. I would recommend a Luggage works bag. Metal preferably. It sits right behind you, so it will last for a very long time. The good 27 inch one is about 325.00
Appreciate any and all info everyone provides
